Employee wellbeing: it's good to talk

We take employee wellbeing seriously — we want our colleagues to be happy and healthy at work. And so with it being World Mental Health Day, we’re promoting mental health awareness at Zaizi.

When we think about the phrase ‘mental health’, we often think about mental health problems. We think of symptoms like low mood and conditions such as depression or anxiety. 

In fact, everyone has mental health. There will be times when your mental health is good – and times when it’s not as good. Just like physical health.

Leading up to ‘World Mental Health Day’, Zaizi is running an internal campaign to encourage employees to think and talk about mental health in the workplace, and to take away the stigma where people are perceived as being different because of their mental health problem.

As part of the campaign we are sending out informative emails with subjects such as ‘what is mental health’ and ‘how to start talking openly with colleagues and managers’. As well as sharing some real-life stories published on time-to-change.org.uk.

It's not all work! From fundraising activities to impromptu get-togethers, we take part in a number of activities both in and out of the office.


This campaign is part of a wider employee wellbeing initiative to help keep our employees healthy both mentally and physically.

We run an anonymous mental health audit to help us get an accurate picture of the current situation in our workplace.

Other initiatives we’re running: 

  • We have ’no eating at your desk’ policy, encouraging employees to get away from their screens. It encourages staff to socialise in our lovely kitchen at mealtimes, and talk to each other.

  • We recently got a pool table — a great stress-buster, and again brings employees together.

  • Zaizi holds regular team building and bonding activities, giving employees the chance to mix with other employees they don’t usually work with on a daily basis. These activities include quiz nights, sporting activities, charity fundraising, bake-offs etc. 

We don’t underestimate the importance of our colleagues and their wellbeing. We encourage open, transparent conversations. We believe it’s imperative to creating a successful digital culture. It’s good to talk.
