The National Archives and Zaizi nominated for DevOps Excellence Awards

The National Archives and Zaizi have been nominated for Computing’s DevOps Excellence Awards 2024.

Our submission is shortlisted in the Best Use of Cloud-Native Technologies category, alongside projects from major companies like Sky Sports, Aviva and Lloyds Bank.

The award is based on the work The National Archives and Zaizi undertook to make court and tribunal decisions searchable and more accessible.

“We are proud to receive this nomination alongside our partner Zaizi, recognising the excellent collaborative work that made this achievement possible.

“Zaizi worked quickly and efficiently building us a serverless data transformation pipeline for court judgments and tribunal decisions.

“When it comes to these important public records, we wanted to preserve the original MS Word files in our digital archive and create accessible HTML 5 for presentation to users on the Web. We also provide an authentic pdf for download as well as LegalDocML (xml) for data re-users.

“The data transformation pipeline formed an integral part of this service offering.”

Improving access to digital records

The National Archives is the official archive and publisher of the UK Government.

As part of its digital transformation strategy, it wanted to streamline and improve the submission and access of digital records.

We helped enrich court judgment documents uploaded to its Transfer Digital Records (TDR) system with additional metadata and securely supply them to downstream systems like Find Case Law.

Find Case Law publishes court judgments online, making court and tribunal decisions searchable and freely available for download.
