Zaizi featured in TechUK’s Policing Solutions Book

Zaizi is featured in TechUK’s Policing Solutions Book, which provides solutions to the police’s most pressing operational and strategic challenges.

The book responds to the 13 problem statements published by the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) and the Office of the Police Chief Scientific Advisor (OPCSA) in the Policing Problem Book.

techUK invited its members to respond to these challenges and collated solutions and tools that show how members can help police meet them.

Our contribution map to the following problem statements:

Digitise, automate, lose the administrative drag

To meet the demands of modern, intelligence-led policing, forces must move beyond legacy constraints and build the foundations that will then enable innovation.

Digital empowerment is as much a tech issue as an upskilling one. If systems don’t talk to each other, there’s too much manual entry, and officers can’t securely access/share the information they need, their ability to work effectively and innovate is limited.

Not every officer needs to be a data expert. But every officer should have intuitive, user-centred tools that capture accurate data into well-built solutions that manage data governance behind the scenes.

Like other public sector organisations, police deal with legacy systems that can’t be replaced overnight. But there are ways forward.

Innovate with AI

With solid digital foundations in place, forces can deploy assistive AI to reduce cognitive load amongst the workforce

Tech that reduces complexity and repetitive work, such as AI assistants, document summarisation, semantic search across case files, and intelligent redaction, speeds up digital evidence processing and lets officers focus on more important intelligence-led tasks.

These solutions need full auditability, explainability, and human-in-the-loop decision-making baked in.

The culture question

A big barrier to innovation is often culture. That is what we found in our research of national security civil servants for our recent whitepaper.

Bringing people along the journey is important to fostering an innovative culture. Integrating new technologies like AI can often mean evolving established ways of working.

With our public sector clients, we start with an approach to de-risk innovation through workshops like Transformation Days. We bring frontline officers and leaders together to reach alignment, rapidly prototype in safe environments, and turn ideas into a business case or actionable roadmap.
