From pilot to platform: Scaling AI and digital services in national security

About the webinar
Government departments protecting our borders and national security stand ready for transformation. The commitment is clear in the MoD’s £1bn investment in digital battlefield technology and in the renewed focus on modernising the Home Office’s technology infrastructure, too. But the journey to realise this ambition requires success in moving pilots to scaled-up services. Achieving this, however, remains one of government’s most persistent challenges.
This CSW webinar brings together leaders from government and industry who understand that implementing AI at scale isn’t about technology alone but also about building bridges between legacy foundations and future capabilities.
What we’ll be discussing
We’ll explore practical approaches to the challenges civil servants face on a daily basis, from extracting value from legacy data and enabling integration, to ensuring security throughout the process. Our panel will also share key advice on taking the first crucial steps towards the culture change that makes transformation stick, and what departments are doing to successfully move from pilots to platforms that others can adopt and scale.
Discussion topics will include:
- Understanding common challenges in moving from pilot to implementation during initial planning
- Overview of current approaches that have worked
- How to reach rapid stakeholder alignment when time and budgets are tight
- Practical strategies for modernising legacy systems without disrupting critical operations
- How to build platforms, not just projects, enabling solutions that scale across departments
- What a good security-first approach to integration looks like in the field of national defence and security
- The role of partners in bridging the gap between current capabilities and future requirements
What we help national security and government teams deliver
- Designing services around people
- Secure, strong public services
- Modernising government technology
- Simple cloud without complexity
- Smarter use of data and responsible AI
- Building digital capability
