Border Force and Zaizi shortlisted for Computing Security Excellence Awards

Border Force and Zaizi have been shortlisted for Security Innovation of the Year at the Computing Security Excellence Awards, recognising their collaborative work on ScanApp.

ScanApp is a secure application that digitises and automates workflows, eliminating manual, paper-based processes.

The innovative solution significantly enhances operational speed and efficiency. It enables officers to handle a much higher volume of freight while strengthening security, decision-making and data sharing.

“I am absolutely delighted that ScanApp has been nominated for the Computing Security Excellence Awards.”

“This recognition means a great deal to our entire team at Border Force.

“I am immensely proud of the innovative product we have delivered in partnership with Zaizi, which not only brings immediate benefits to UK security and facilitates legitimate trade, but also establishes a strong foundation for future digitally enabled transformation.

Darren Hart MBE, Programme Director, Border Force

The Computing Security Excellence Awards celebrate the technology, organisations, and people who keep the UK safe.

Each shortlisted entry demonstrated measurable outcomes, strategic focus and a clear understanding of security as a business enabler.

ScanApp’s success is already recognised on the world stage, having won the internationally prestigious PEN-CP Global Customs Innovation Award.

“I am incredibly proud of the work we’ve delivered on ScanApp alongside Border Force.

“The secure, user-centred application significantly reduces the time it takes to process vehicles, allowing teams to handle higher volumes and detect illicit goods entering the UK more effectively.

“More recently, we explored how AI could further enhance operations and we’re working with government departments to scale this UK innovation globally.

“ScanApp’s success is down to the exceptional collaboration between the teams at Zaizi and Border Force — and it demonstrates how our work aligns with our core mission of keeping the UK safe.”

Aingaran Pillai, Zaizi CEO & Founder

Award organisers Computing say the finalists represent outstanding achievement across the security landscape.

“The shortlist offers valuable insight into the direction of cybersecurity practice,” said an article by Computing about the awards.

“Selected by an independent panel of judges, these finalists set the benchmark for security excellence in 2026 and beyond.”
